Rabies Every Three Years

Vaccine that lasts 36 months has been available for decades
Alabama recently became the last of the 50 states to enact a law allowing pet owners to vaccinate their dogs and cats for rabies every three years rather than every year. The bill, sponsored by state Sen. Larry Dixon, R-Montgomery, was signed into law in May by Gov. Bob Riley. It went into effect Aug. 1, 2010. The choice is yours it is not mandated that vets have to support the 3 year vaccinations.  If you as the pet owner want the 3 year vaccination ask for it.

Some vets only support a 1 year vaccination to reassure the yearly checkup for your pet. Twila Floyd DVM in Notasulga will support the 3 year vaccination. You as the pet owner have a choice.  Less vaccinations are best for your pet.
